Creating external reference documents

In Meridian Project Portal, external reference files should be stored in (child) documents separate from, but linked to, the parent document. The links enable the features of the Advanced File Management add-on.

To create an external reference document:

  1. Create the parent document and upload the parent file normally as described in Creating documents. The parent file name should appear in the Files property.

Note    The Application property in the CAD Properties group should be set as required by your installation. The property specifies in which CAD application the file should be opened when you run the subget and subcheckout commands.

  1. For each external reference file used by the parent file, create a child document and upload the child file normally as described in Creating documents. The child file name should be listed in the Files property.
  2. Create links between the child documents and the parent document as described in Linking items. The parent document should show the child documents listed in its Subdocuments property. The child documents should show the parent documents listed in their Parent documents property as described in Viewing and editing document properties.
